WhaleChart

Whalechart was my first large project, started in february 2013.
I spent about 3 months, over 250 working hours on this.

Its based on an existing chart of whales used in biology class, with the different types of whales grouped. The large blue whale in the top left corner, humpbackwhale in the middle, the familiar orca and beluga and some smaller dolphins.

What inspired me to work with whales is the idea of a sleepless night where you have hours and hours of time to think... The dark feels like a vast ocean, absent of physical stimuli.
Absence of stimuli provides an environment that is free of prejudice or distractions and inspires you to formulate deep, sharp thoughts that can be built from the ground up.

In this way, the whale would be the perfect animal to live inside of in order to practice philosophy.

The WhaleChart was also created as a book in cooperation with L'Appât printing studio in Brussels in 2015.
